Student Records

The primary rights under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Federal Law 99-380, include:

  • Right to inspect and review educational records.
  • Right to seek to amend education records.
  • Right to have some control over the disclosure of information from education records.

Directory Information

In compliance with FERPA, information classified as "directory information" may be released to the general public without the prior written consent of the student.  Directory information includes:

  • Student name
  • Student address
  • Telephone listing
  • Major field(s) of study
  • Participation in officially recognized activities and sports
  • Weight and height of athletic team members
  • Dates of attendance/enrollment
  • Most recent previous educational institution attended
  • Degrees and awards received
  • Photo/visual likeness
  • Official college-issued e-mail address

A student may request that directory information be withheld from the public by going to Manage My Privacy Settings in Workday. These privacy settings will remain in place until updated in Workday or revoked by the student in writing. If a student has not updated their record with a non-disclosure request, then directory information will be released upon inquiry.

 

If you are not a current student, you can change your release authorizations by sending an email to Registrar@abadiadetortoreos.com.

 

Collin College acts in accordance with the Solomon Amendment, a federal law that mandates institutions receiving federal funding must abide to military recruitment requests for lists containing student recruiting information.
